What should i be aware of when looking for rental apartment?
We advise you to consider proper location (Martin has 7 districts and only 2 are preferred by students due to university & hospital location ). Also consider whether you prefer older apartment or new apartment. Older are cheaper, but new have much better comfort and living standard. Make sure to check whether apartment is furnished (this is tricky: it may seem attractive but if you rent unfurnished one you will have to spend another 4000-6000€ for furniture which you'll have problems to sell one your stay in Martin is over and you will never be able to get your money back). Also double check whether advertised price has utilities such as internet, electricity, heating and water included. This is another trick some people use because these payments may add to the rental price additional 80 to 160€. When you check listings at DILIO rental showcase all apartment have all details fully explained - no hidden surprises.
WHICH areas are preferred for living by students in martin.
Districts: Center and Jahodniky. Center district due to location of university is preferred by 1st-4th graders. Jahodniky district is close to university hospital and thus preferred by 5th-6th graders. Districts such as Sever, Kosuty, Zaturcie are located quite far away from city center therefor they are not preferred by foreign students.
